Master Plan for a Mixed-Use
Town Center

Located in Chesterfield County, Virginia, Winterfield Village is a 32 acre site which DesignWorks has been hired to develop a new town center for the surrounding neighborhoods. The Master Plan establishes a Main Street environment that is complemented by a mix of retail and residential with two main anchors: a movie theater at the end of Main Street and a grocery store located behind the shops. An existing pond becomes a unique site amenity by the addition of a pedestrian promenade along its edge. The pond is also utilized as a buffer between the residential component and the main retail core. The creation of outdoor spaces linked by sidewalks promotes a pedestrian environment for the future residents.

New buildings will be located along Winterfield Road and Midlothian Turnpike streetscapes. Apartment buildings with open courtyards will enhance the residential character of Winterfield Road. In contrast, Midlothian Turnpike, bordered by shops with sidewalks, display windows and street trees, will establish Winterfield Village as the local town center.
