Master Plan

Located where the Atlantic Ocean and Edisto River meet, on beautiful Seabrook Island, South Carolina, St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center and the Episcopalian Diocese of South Carolina looked to DesignWorks to Master Plan an expansion of the existing campus.

In order to accommodate future growth, expansion includes the addition of a new Assembly and Conference Center to be sited to take advantage of views to the water. Adult lodges are to be constructed to capture the essence of the pristine maritime forest, all with views to the ocean. Greeted by a new Welcome Center, the view over the amended and expanded existing lakes follows to the new Assembly and on through to the open vista of the water.

The dining hall, which boasts an excellent menu, will be renovated and expanded as well as staff housing and cabins which serve as lodging for the summer camp and the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program. The Assembly, conference rooms, administrative offices and dining hall will create the central core of the campus to provide unity and fellowship for all and between the varying age groups.

The Master Plan will have minimal impact to the site as the expansion has been limited and utilizes the existing site while taking advantage of views to the ocean. Vehicular circulation will be on the perimeter of the site in order to provide a safe place for children as well as a respite for those seeking a spiritual haven.
