Highway 144
Richmond Hill, Georgia
Master Plan
DesignWorks was hired by the City of Richmond Hill to develop a master plan for the improvement of Highway 144 in Richmond Hill, Georgia. This was done to assist the city in obtaining a half million dollar grant from The Georgia Department of Transportation. The project consists of improvements to Highway 144, a typical five lane highway bisecting the core of the city. Tree plantings, a planted median, specialty paving, and street lighting are the main components of the new design.
The new and improved street becomes the main connection between the three main areas of downtown Richmond Hill: The Civic Center, organized around the City Hall, G.F. Gregory Park, the recreational grounds and the newly developed entertainment/retail village across the street , and The Station Xchange (private enterprise also designed by DesignWorks). DesignWorks will begin a second phase of work after grant approval including coordination with local landscape firms, engineers, and the City as well as coordination with adjacent projects including the Station Xchange.
