Master Plan

Built on what were once tomato fields, Freshfields is the long awaited commercial hub for both Kiawah and Johns Island residents. DesignWorks was comissioned to create a master plan that celebrated the sites unique rural heritage Native plants were used extensively to blend the space with the natural island environment; this included using several varieties of ornamental grasses and seasonal color. Eight architects met, each to design different retail spaces for the center, giving the shops variety and the sense that the marketplace has evolved over time.
